Pokemon Charizard Celebrations Classic Coll. Base Set Holo Rare #4 PSA 10
Price: $600.00
Charizard from the original Base Set, that Rare Holo everyone knows, slabbed in a PSA 10. Yeah, it’s the one. The artwork shows this massive dragon-like beast mid-roar, wings spread wide with flames bursting everywhere. That fiery background and intense stare just pull you in, like it’s about to torch the whole table.
On the card, it’s a Fire type with 120 HP. Pokémon Power is Energy Burn, turning all your attached energies into Fire for that extra punch. Then the big attack: Fire Spin at 100 damage, but you gotta discard two energies to pull it off. Simple, brutal mechanics that defined early decks. No frills, just raw power.
This printing dropped in 1999 as part of the first English Pokémon TCG set, straight from Wizards of the Coast. What makes it stand out? It’s the chase card of the era, evolving from Charmeleon and capping off that starter line. Base Set kicked off the whole phenomenon, with unlimited prints flooding shops, but finding one this clean? That’s where the hunt gets real. Tons of these got played hard back in the day, edges frayed from endless battles.
Slab-wise, PSA 10 means gem mint all around—sharp corners, pristine surface, and centering that’s on point, maybe 55/45 or better for eye appeal. The holo foil pops under light, no whitening or scratches to dull it. From what I recall on pop reports, these hover around 300 or so in PSA 10, but that’s spread across unlimited editions. Not a ton considering how many were printed. It’s got that classic slab vibe, label crisp and case unscuffed.
I’d keep this one in a display case, maybe next to some old binders for that nostalgia hit. Reminds me of flipping through packs at recess, hoping for the dragon.
